The Institute for Childhood Preparedness was on the road last week - and presented findings from a recent national study of child care preparedness on November 14, 2018, at the American Public Health Association’s annual conference in San Diego, CA. This conference is the premier conference in public health, with over 12,000 attendees from across the world.
Nearly 90% of child care providers report having written preparedness plans.
Child care providers report needing more preparedness-related educational trainings. Providers require further resources and greater technical assistance. They know this will help them feel more comfortable executing these plans when/if needed.
In particular, only 45% of providers reported feeling prepared for active shooter situations.
These findings are meaningful and the full study will be published in the near future. That’s why the Institute for Childhood Preparedness is offering active shooter trainings. We created these trainings to prepare members of the early childcare workforce.
